My Audio Memoir Process
Step 1 – Pre-interviews:
To understand the key parts of your life story, we will have multiple conversations to become acquainted. During these chats, I will ask you to share with me the important people, events and stories of your life.
Having these talks allows me to create a framework for the recording sessions and are crucial to creating a great audio memoir.
It can be expected that these conversations will take place over a number of days.
Step 2 – Recording:
The recording will take place from the comfort of your home, or remotely.
Ancestral information, memories of grandparents, early life, parent’s lives, how your parents met, your eventually birth, the early years, the successes, the life lessons, the birth of children/grandchildren, career and retirement. These are all possible topics to be explored. However, it is ultimately up to you as to the areas you would want to share. Input from family members, as to what areas of your life they would like to know more about, is very much encouraged!
Having a foundational understanding of your life, through the pre-interviews, will allow me to guide you from one story to another. Further conversation during this time, will allow you to expand on certain key moments of your life which were meaningful. The goal is not just have dates and some surface facts about particular events, but also to unlock the deeper nuances behind your life stories.
Step 3 – Editing:
Your voice will be the sole one in the final recording, and it will sound like an audiobook version of a written memoir.
Using creative audio editing techniques, I will bring out the best of you and your storytelling.
A highly listenable, well crafted audio memoir will be yours to share with current and future generations.
